JPS Celebrated American Education Week (11/14-11/18)

Ring Elementary School students recently celebrated American Education Week with a “Wear College Apparel to School Day.” Teachers talked about the importance of making educational goals to fulfill their dreams of going to college. They also emphasized that every student can go to college if they work hard and set goals. This day was just one activity chaired by teachers Alicia Calimeri and Carrie Davenport. Other activities included teachers and students recognizing Paraprofessional and support personnel, Proud to be a Roadrunner-Day for school spirit and an all-week book drive to collect and donate books for the PACERS program.

Ring was just one school celebrating AEW. Lincoln Elementary School also celebrated their Support personnel and made Daily PA announcements revolving around the history of American Education then and now.

Rogers Elementary School emphasized American Education Week by commenting on it in their monthly newsletter and mentioning it during their announcements. Also in honor of the week and Education Support Professional Day, the Rogers PTA gave every Rogers staff member a stainless steel travel mug inscribed with the Rogers motto, “Minds can soar when we give them wings,” with a personalized note attached funded by the Rogers PTA.

Fletcher Elementary School also held a Staff Appreciation Day and included a fourth grade social studies presentation for students and parents.
