Creative Projects Bring the Middle Ages Alive for Jefferson Students

Jefferson Middle School students on Team Endeavor recently created projects depicting a part of the Middle Ages. The sixth graders learned about the Medieval time period in Social Studies. As a culminating project, students picked one interesting fact about the time period and created an at-home project. Students made stained glass out of colored paper, knights out of foil and cardboard, castles and jousting to name just a few of the innovative projects.

“The coat of arms were used to identify the knight and where he was from,” said sixth grader Ben Smeltzer who created his own coat of arms. “Since they couldn’t read well at that time period, they used symbols and pictures to create their coat of arms. I like doing projects like this as it is hands-on and let me be creative by including my love of music and boating on Chautauqua Lake as part of my project.”
