Jefferson Students “Skate” Their Way to Physical Fitness

Jefferson Middle School students have the opportunity to try in-line skating during Physical Education classes. Students meet every other day for a four-week unit.

“Our mission is to enrich our school’s physical education curriculum by bringing the fun and excitement of in-line skating into our classes,” said Jefferson Physical Education teacher, Franni Carlson. “The unit’s objectives include: building motor skills, self-esteem and cardiovascular fitness while teaching a versatile sport that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. The students really love it!”
