Jamestown High School students Collin Rodgers, Haley Davis, Joel Allport-Cohoon,, Sarah Gibson, Zack Eklum and Luke Kindberg recently participated in JCC’s Annual Math Competition for area high school students sponsored by the division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The competition is designed to give math students from across the county a chance to compete against each other by providing interesting mathematical challenge for students to encourage further study in the field of mathematics and the sciences.
Students were divided into students teams, working with students from other area high schools to earn points by locating and correctly completing challenging math problems – scavenger hunt style. For example, students visited a JCC physics instructor who had them build a tower with spaghetti and marshmallows in order to hold a flashlight. Students also received a tour of JCC’s facilities and technology available.
Joel Allport- Cohoon was on the first place team, Luke Kindberg was on the second place team and Collin Rodgers was on the third place team. Congratulations to these talented math students!
