JHS ELA Students Shine at Annual Optimist Oratorical Contest

Eleven JHS 9th grade students in Barbi Price’s AT English class competed in the annual Optimist Oratorical Contest held at the Boys and Girls Club on Wednesday, April 17. This year’s topic was “Why my voice is important.” Each student interpreted the quote differently and practiced the speech in class before giving it before a panel of judges. Students were rated on posture, pacing, enunciation, projection, content, and overall presentation in a boys and girls division.

In the Boys Division, Cameron Hurst took first place and Luke Kindberg placed second. In the Girls Division, Molly Morse placed second and Amber Yanik came in third.
