Jamestown High School recently held a “College 101″ event for about 200 seniors. The program was made possible by the College Access Grant and presented by Nelson Garifi, Lori Svenson and Jade Barber from JCC.
Some of the students who attended participated in a “255 Day Quiz.” The game show style format was informative including: college planning, terms and cost. The winner, Dommonic Purdy, received a Kindle Fire.
JCC secured the grant to use with districts that met financial criteria through the free/reduced lunch program. JHS participated along with: Brocton, Dunkirk, Pine Valley, Salamanca and the GA Home.
JHS School Counselors Shellee Irwin and Deb Cliver, who are JPS College Access Coordinators, met with Lori Svenson, Coordinator of the College Access Program at JCC to organize this event for JHS students.
