Five Star Bank Donates Winter Coats to Love Elementary School

Five Star Bank recently donated 132 brand new winter coats to Love Elementary School.  Laura Marlowe, Product Management and Marketing Communications and Sherri Kaleta, Advertising & Communications Manager drove from Rochester, NY to deliver the coats as part of their distribution of 700 winter coats to children who would otherwise find themselves without proper outdoor clothing.

“It is really good that the bank gave our school coats,” said Love Elementary School kindergartener, Brandon Privetera. “It’s really awesome!”

This is the second year that Five Star Bank has donated coats, expanding last year’s drive in Rochester to include Jamestown, Buffalo and Elmira. Love Elementary School used a lottery to determine who received one of the new winter coats.

“This was an incredible donation that Five Star Bank made to our students,” said Love Elementary School Principal Renee Hartling. “The coats are beautiful and the looks on the children’s’ faces were priceless.”

Five Star Bank first approached Love School about a 2015 Calendar Coloring Contest. Love Elementary School student Skylar Philbrick’s drawing was featured as the August calendar winner. Five Star Bank then approached the school about donating winter coats.

“We take pride in supporting our communities and we are very pleased to help those in need.  Often times we overlook some of the basic necessities,” said Mrs. Kaleta. “When we learned school children were in need of winter coats, we were determined to do something.  Our entire organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities in which we live and work.”
