Author, Nila Webster, Donates over 400 Books to JPS 1st Graders

Author, Nila Webster, recently donated over 400 copies of her book, The Gift of You, The Gift of Me, to Jamestown Public Schools first graders. Ms. Webster has donated a book to every first through fifth grader over the past few years so that all students have an opportunity to take a new book home to read.

Ms. Webster has ties to Western New York and loves to encourage reading and creativity in children. The Gift of You, The Gift of Me is a book about courage, friendship and gratitude. This generous donation will benefit JPS students in many ways, but most importantly, it shows them that giving back is the ultimate gift.

Recently, Lincoln Elementary School first graders watched a video of Ms. Webster telling the story of how she became a writer and also received their copy of the book to take home to share with their families. Elementary schools across the district also distributed the books and planned activities to highlight its unique message.

“We are so thankful to Ms. Webster for her annual donation to our students,” said Director of Schools, Tina Sandstrom. “We always stress the importance of reading, especially at home, and a donation like this allows every one of our elementary school students to experience the thrill of owning a new book. We can’t thank Ms. Webster enough for her continual support of our district and our students.”
