Washington Middle School’s Battle Cry Club and Builders Club teamed together to help to spread holiday cheer in their local community. The clubs, which are both sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, help students complete community service projects in Jamestown and promote awareness of the importance of being a positive role model in the community.
With the help of advisors, Pat Smeraldo and John Calimeri, club members held a food drive at Washington Middle School for St. Susan’s Center and donated 440 lbs. of food. Students also rang the bell at Tops on Washington Street for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign.
“One of the best tools we can pass down to our youth is the love of our community and the importance of coming together to help one another to ensure we live in the best environment possible,” said Mr. Smeraldo. “The students at Washington have been very receptive to getting involved and making a difference.”
