JPS Announces New Director of Information Services

The Jamestown Board of Education appointed Chuck Marzec as its new Director of Information Services at tonight’s meeting. Mr. Marzec will begin his new duties immediately. Dave Currie, who previously led the Information Services Department, retired at the end of June. The position is responsible for overseeing the JPS Information Services Department, which includes: hardware, software and staff necessary to provide data and communications support to all departments of Jamestown Public Schools. 

“We are so pleased to announce Mr. Marzec as our new leader of Information Services,” said JPS Superintendent Sylvia Root. “Mr. Marzec has worked in the Information Services Department at Jamestown Schools for 14 years and has extensive knowledge about our district and its technology needs. We are happy to have someone with his experience taking on the important technology component for our district.”

Mr. Marzec most recently held the position of Network Administrator in the Jamestown Public Schools since 2006. In this position, he was responsible for: the day-to-day support and maintenance of the various servers and offered services, deploying new technologies and services such as video conferencing, wireless networks and network directory services, helping to specify technology products and services to insure they would meet district needs, supervised various external contractors and implementers. Mr. Marzec also supervised JPS computer technicians throughout various projects within the district and participated in the district’s planning of technology needs throughout capital projects.

Mr. Marzec previously worked as a Jamestown Public Schools Computer Service Specialist from 2003 to 2006 and as an Information Technology Department Assistant at Cummins Engine in the Systems Department in 2003.

Mr. Marzec received his Bachelor’s of Technology degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Network Administration from Alfred State University.
