JPS Summer LitCamp Has Been a Resounding Success! Watch Videos!

Jamestown Public Schools’ LitCamp has been a resounding success this summer! The six-week JPS LitCamp expanded this summer from Ring Elementary School to also include a site at Love Elementary School.  This breakthrough summer literacy program combines innovative, research-based reading and writing lessons with an engaging and interactive summer camp approach. Thanks to the JPS PROMISE Fund who purchased the LitCamp curriculum and books for students and Community Schools state funding, along with the help of community partners Chautauqua Striders, YWCA, YMCA, Jamestown Community Learning Council, Foster Grandparent Program and Jamestown Community College – the program has been a huge success!

The LitCamp program includes:

• Easy to implement, standards-aligned literacy lessons

• High-quality fiction and nonfiction literature

• Engaging group activities

• Dedicated time for independent reading

• Giving students the tools to excel in both their scholastic and social/emotional environments
