Director of Curriculum & Instruction Attends Kennedy Center Partners for Education Institute

JPS Director of Curriculum & Instruction, Michelle McDowell, recently attended the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Institute along with Chautauqua Institution’s Lisa Gierszal & Deborah Sunya-Moore & Chautauqua Lake School teacher, Jennifer Davis, to learn about program models and planning strategies for establishing or expanding professional learning programs in the arts for all teachers.

The Kennedy Center Partners in Education is based on the belief that teachers’ professional learning is an essential component of any effort designed to increase the artistic literacy of young people. We are so lucky to have this program to help our teachers & students at JPS! The partnership with Chautauqua Institution has brought visiting artists to Jamestown Schools to introduce ways to infuse art into teacher’s classrooms including professional development workshops and hands-on classroom visits.

Thank you Chautauqua Institution for this wonderful program!
