JPS Superintendent Apthorpe Presents Plan to Community Partners

JPS Superintendent Bret Apthorpe presented a three-pronged plan to community partners last night at the Robert H. Jackson Center. Dr. Apthorpe presented school enrollment trends over the past 15 years and student performance data including graduation and dropout rates. He also talked  about A.C.E.s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and how these directly affect the students in Jamestown.

Dr. Apthorpe presented the district’s plan, which includes:

  • Aligning student programming to the needs of local businesses, colleges and universities
  • A year-round Success Academy at Rogers School for 5-12
  • A Summer Community Literacy Camp for K-4

Dr. Apthorpe asked the community for their partnership to help make these plans a reality for the children of Jamestown. The district would like to launch the Summer Literacy Camp in the summer of 2019 and open the Success Academy at Rogers School in the 2019-20 school year.  Please view the video below for more information.
