JHS Artists Selected for St. Bonaventure University Art Show

Artwork, created by five Jamestown High School students, was recently selected from over 300 entries and 25 schools to be a part of the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts Juried High School Art Show. The JHS students selected for the show were: Kaytlyn Rasmussen (10th grade), Michael Quigley (12th grade), Lily Foster (9th grade), McKayla Johnson (12th grade) and Justice Edens (11th grade).

“It is a great honor to have our student’s artwork selected by a university with an accredited art program, from over 300 works of art sent in by schools across Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties,” said JHS Art Teacher Brandy Fuller. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to get their work viewed beyond our community, and for them to be acknowledged for their talent and skill by other art professionals.”

A panel of judges who selected the top artwork from high schools across the region evaluated the student’s artwork. The artwork selected was created this school year during JCC Drawing and Studio in Art classes at JHS.

JHS is very lucky to offer a number of art courses within the Academy of Communications, Performing and Visual Arts including: Studio Art, Advanced Studio, Drawing (JCC credit-bearing course), Painting, AP Studio Art in Drawing, Studio in Crafts, Computer Art, Cartooning, Studio in Animation, Digital and Traditional Photography.
