Graduation Requirements

The minimum requirements for graduation are determined by the New York State Education Department, with additional requirements established by the District.  Graduation requirements may vary according to the year in which a student enters grade 9, and depend upon the type of diploma that the student wishes to obtain.

Jamestown High School offers four diploma types:

  • Academic Advanced Diploma: awarded to students who successfully complete the most rigorous program of study available including a minimum of three Advanced Placement courses and related examinations
  • Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation: awarded to students who successfully complete a college and career readiness program of study including additional courses in mathematics, science, and foreign language
  • Regents Diploma: awarded to students who meet all minimum requirements for high school graduation, including passing scores on five required New York State Regents examinations
  • Local Diploma: available to students with learning disabilities who achieve a minimum score on all required Regents examinations
