Jefferson Students Win School Book End Contest

Jefferson Middle School sixth graders Grace Arrance and Christina McMillan show off their winning Rainforest book ends created in Lisa Corey’s art class. The winning book end was sent to the Erie 2-Chautauqua – Cattaraugus BOCES School Library System’s 6th Annual Book Ending Excitement Contest. The student’s creativity helped generate $50 in new library books for Jefferson’s library. Library Media Specialist, Julie Livengood, teamed with Mrs. Corey to have students create bookends that relate to a theme. Students submitted a written proposal to Mrs. Corey supporting why their theme was appropriate for the contest, Students created a variety of book ends including: sport-related, sharks, skateboarding, dogs and cats and a “Where’s Waldo” theme. Each pair of students also had to include books from the Jefferson library, which conveyed their theme, in their bookend display,
