JHS Announces February 2012 Students of the Month

Jamestown High School is proud to announce its February 2012 Students of the Month. Congratulations to these talented students.

9th Grade: Jenny Roof

Jennifer Roof, a freshman at Jamestown High School, is the daughter of Wendy & Lyle Roof. She is involved in Key Club, plays the violin in the orchestra, and participates in Mixed Chorus. She is a competitive gymnast at Flyers Gymnastics. Outside of school and sports, Jennifer likes to read and draw.

 

 

10th Grade: Kavita Oza

Kavita M. Oza, a sophomore at Jamestown High School, is the daughter of Milind and Nayna Oza. Kavita is a part of the school’s various clubs such as Mock Trial, French Club, Key Club, Environmental Club, and Raider Readers. Last year, she participated in the Oratorical Competition, where she won second place, and was also awarded the Warner’s Public Speaking Award for her achievements during the Poetry Out Loud Competition in 2011. She is also a member of the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association. Last year, her novice four boat won third place in the New York State Championships. She is also planning to join the golf team at JHS. In her spare time, Kavita plays the piano, paints, draws, and reads. After graduation, she wishes to pursue a medical career at Brown University and minor in visual arts. After her medical career comes to an end, she wants to teach art.

11th Grade: Alize Scott

Alize Scott, a junior at Jamestown High School, is the daughter of Tina Taylor and Chad Whitcomb. Alize runs on both the Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. In her spare time, she keeps up with her studies, volunteers in the community, and spends time with family and friends. After graduation, Alize plans to attend college, but is undecided on a major.

 

 

12th Grade:  Ben Whitney

Ben Whitney, a senior at Jamestown High School, is the son of Robert and Darcy Whitney. Ben is currently a member of the Varsity Baseball team, and he also played Varsity Basketball and served as co-captain on the Varsity Football team. Along with sports, Ben is a member of the Symphonic Band, where he plays percussion. He is also a member of National Honor Society. After graduation, Ben plans to study Sports and Exercise Science at Gannon University, where he will also play football.
