JHS Val & Sal 2012

Jamestown High School Proud to Announce 2012 Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Jamestown High School is proud to announce its 2012 Valedictorian Nate Larson and Salutatorian Holly Johnson. Congratulations to these talented students who best exemplify the pride of Jamestown Public Schools.

Nate Larson, son of Sean & Heidi Larson, will be attending Colgate University in the fall with plans to major in Biology and attend medical school to become a neurologist.

“JHS has certainly prepared me for my post-graduation educational life as a result of the beneficially arduous classes and the difficult workload associated with them, which will allow me to adjust to the upcoming rigors of college. JHS is unique as we have a larger opportunity to take different, and more individually appealing, classes than most other schools.“

Mr. Larson’s awards and honors during his high school career include: Clarkson University High School Achievement Award, Prendergast Prize, Business First’s WNY All-Academic Second Team, Norman M. Tinkham Award, Grace H. Dorman Award, AP Scholar Award, Jasmine Cantor Award, Kenneth Sohmer Award, Milton J. Fletcher Award, NYS Scholarship for Academic Excellence, Jamestown Pediatric Scholarship and Theodore Peterson Award.

His activities include: varsity soccer, varsity golf, Honor Society, Ski Club, Vice President of the Environmental Club, tutoring, Key Club, SC United Soccer, Indoor Soccer and Usher at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Holly Johnson, daughter of Steve & Karen Johnson, will attend Case Western Reserve University with plans to major in Biology, follow a pre-med track and attend medical school to pursue a career in Interventional Radiology.

“I think the course selection at JHS, particularly the wide variety of AP classes, makes it unique. The rigor of the AP Program, as well as the availability of extracurricular activities, has taught me to adjust to a busy schedule, much like I will experience in college.”

Ms. Johnson’s award and honors during her high school career include: Jamestown Public School Forest, New York State Scholarship for Academic excellence, Allen Ayers Award, Jasmine Cantor Award, Roskamp Award, Varsity Soccer Scholar Athlete, Eunice A. Anderson Award for Girls, Theodore M. Peterson Award in Chemistry, Wellesley Book Club Award, AP Scholar with Distinction and NYS Archives Award.

Her activities include: varsity soccer, SC United Soccer, indoor soccer, Secretary of Honor Society, Environmental Club, Key Club and “Sub Cute” Club.
