JPS Receives Safety Excellence Award

The Utica National Insurance Group recently recognized Jamestown Public Schools with a 2012 School Safety Excellence Award. JPS is one of 112 school districts and BOCES in the state to receive the award.

JPS received a certificate and a $500 safety award for use in furthering their safety efforts. Utica National’s school safety awards program helps participating schools and BOCES enhance overall safety through measurable assessments. JPS was evaluated in 19 categories ranging from bullying prevention to playground safety with specific, quantifiable data-gathering surveys.

“Safety and health concerns are a priority in our school districts,” said Mark Aquino, Regional Manager – Risk Management Department. “Whether we are parents seeing our child off on the school bus, teachers charged with the responsibility of educating, or staff who maintain the facility, there is a common thread of attention to safety issues. It is with great pleasure that we recognize these schools that not only take safety to heart, but go above and beyond to provide a safe, healthy, and focused culture on learning.”

Utica National, based in New Hartford, provides property and liability insurance to more than 300 school districts in Upstate New York and is a leading insurance organization in the state and country.
