New Rogers School Principal

Jamestown Public Schools is proud to announce the appointment of David Hickey as the new principal at Rogers Elementary School.


“We are very pleased to have Mr. Hickey return to our district to serve as principal at Rogers School. His administrative experience and leadership skills will benefit the entire Rogers School community,” said Tina Sandstrom, Director of Elementary Education.

Mr. Hickey was the assistant principal at Jamestown High School from 2009 to 2010. He was also the principal and dean of students for grades 7 to 12 at Sherman Central Schools from 2000 to 2006. Other professional experiences include: elementary and high school counselor positions, assistant principal position, working for Erie BOCES, and as a counselor for foster care children and their families in Florida. Mr. Hickey has extensive and varied experience working with diverse populations of students; particularity at-risk and special needs students.

Mr. Hickey received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia and his master’s degree in School Counseling and Educational Psychology from SUNY Buffalo. He also completed his School Leadership/Administration and Supervision Certification from SUNY Fredonia.

“I am extremely excited to be appointed principal at Rogers Elementary School. The opportunity to work with children at this critical developmental stage is an honor and privilege to which I intend to devote my full effort. The veteran staff and school enjoy a reputation of excellence, and I look forward to being a part of the team that continues that tradition,” said Mr. Hickey.
