Applying to College
Students are encouraged to complete college applications early senior year to ensure that deadlines are met. Online applications are preferred by many colleges.

Applying to JCC?
Many 4 year public and private colleges and universities accept the common application. This allows students to apply to multiple schools with a single application.
Students applying to college will be required to contact the JHS Guidance Office to have a transcript sent to the colleges and universities that they are considering attending. For students applying online, it is the students responsibility to print the school counselor report form from the internet and request transcript to be mailed. Applications will be incomplete without the appropriate materials.
Students may want to consider to begin writing college essays the summer prior to their senior year. Essay topics will vary and students are encouraged to proofread for errors.
Letters of Recommendation
Many college applications require letters of recommendation for college admission. These letters may be from school counselors, teachers, or community members. Students are encouraged to give the person plenty of notice and to pay attention to deadlines.
JCC College/Career Night
Held in October-representatives from a large number of public and private universities will be available to talk to parents and students.
