Six JPS Approved as Community Eligible for Free Breakfast & Lunch Through Federal Grant

Jamestown Public Schools has been approved by the United States Department of Education and the New York State Department of Education to serve Breakfast and Lunch at no charge to students in six of the district’s schools. All students enrolled at Washington Middle, Ring Elementary, Bush Elementary, Love Elementary, Fletcher Elementary and Lincoln Elementary Schools will automatically be eligible to receive Free Breakfast and Lunch. Households with all children attending any of these six schools do not need to submit a Free Meal Application.

“We are thrilled that the Education Department has approved six Jamestown Schools as Community Eligible. This will obviously benefit our students because good nutrition is essential in preparing students to learn,” said JPS Food Services Director Walt Gaczewski. “This is a Federal program through the USDA, with no local tax dollars.”

Households with children attending Jefferson Middle, Persell Middle and High School still need to submit a Free Meal Application in order to receive Free or Reduced meals.
